ELEGANCE - 1970 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SHADOW

Shadow Mascot1This is a marvellously civilised car – whisper quiet as all Rolls Shadow2Royces are, the rear passenger compartment is roomy and comfortable, upholstered in soft grey leather.  These cars were the height of late 60s chic when new, and they still turn heads today.  The car is painted Seychelles Blue, a gorgeous metallic shade which is perfect for catching the light even on dull days.  The overall colour scheme of dark blue, grey and sparkling chrome is confident and assured in a way no white car can ever equal, and it is a perfect backdrop for a traditional white or ivory wedding dress. The car is set off perfectly by its black and silver number plate.  You can be assured of a stylish arrival in this car, and it will blend in with many occasions, looking equally at ease in a traditional church setting, outside a civil ceremony, or parked outside the best reception hotel.

Shadow4 The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow

The Silver Shadow is so familiar now that it is easy to forget what an impact this car made in the 1960s – the design was a world away from the tradition of the Silver Cloud model, brimming with cutting edge technology, including its famous Citroen-like hydraulic suspension and braking system. Modern it may have been, but the legendary Rolls Royce quality was still there, evident in the marvellous detailing throughout the car.  Demand was high - all the super cool late 60s celebs owned a Silver Shadow, including Tom Jones, Mick Jagger, Adam Faith and Engelbert Humperdinck.  Keith Richards famously drove his Shadow into a hotel swimming pool; what Rolls Royce thought of this is not recorded...
Shadow5The Silver Shadow is one of the most underrated classic cars of all, and certainly the most overlooked Rolls Royce.  But those in the know will tell you about the superb engineering, the way the car insulates you from the world outside, and the way it makes you feel when you drive it.  Few cars offer the quiet satisfaction of a Silver Shadow.  Our car was built in 1970, and had just one owner from 1974 to 2010.  Properly maintained all its life, we have a marvellous service history with the car, and it has just undergone a major programme of works with respected specialist Nick Terry to ready it for the next 40 years of its life.  It is a wonderful period piece, with its original 8 track player and Radiomobile radio, and simply oozes class. We hope you like it.
